What are you currently working on?
Currently, except my regular pricing projects, my focus is to enforce and improve the team’s standard working processes which were implemented in the middle of this year. I am also working on enhancing the team’s capacity by enabling more facilitators, e.g. system tools, network/process setup, and enriching the team’s knowledge by exploring more information/focus to better fulfil our jobs.
In a few sentences please explain how your career path has evolved at Kuehne + Nagel until today?
I started in the Hong Kong branch of Kuehne + Nagel as a Regional Key Account Customer Service Coordinator, responsible for the biggest seafreight client. A couple of years after, I took up another challenge and experience a different culture and broaden my horizons. I found an opportunity to work in Switzerland as a Global/Regional Implementation Manager, thereafter I relocated and worked in that position for 3 years.
In 2009, due to an internal re-structure of the organisation, another career opportunity arose with the airfreight business unit as a Global Airfreight Pricing Specialist which gave me opportunity to be closer to the core of the operations. That year was very challenging especially as the team was new. I’m happy with my efforts so far and management has also recognised this, because, a year later, I was promoted to be the Head of Air Pricing Team globally.

Relocating from Hong Kong to Switzerland and successfully making an advancement in my career. Moving to Switzerland without knowing anyone and not being able to speak the language was definitely a challenge, but I’m happy that with the help from friends at work I have quickly adapted to the environment and soon established a comfortable and enjoyable life here. This has enabled me to be more focused at work, which in turn allows me to advance in my career.

Since I work abroad, I cant spend much time with my family, but friends here are definitely keeping me busy. We go out for dinners, watch films and travel around Europe a lot. I believe there have to be a balance between life and work. “Work hard, play hard” is my principle.
