What are you currently working on?
I am currently working on the further implementation of a performance management process that we started to roll out in our region at the beginning of this year. One of the main objectives of this project is to identify our high potential employees globally who are ready to take on more complex roles and to secure our talent pipeline within the organisation. In addition I am developing a customised development program for our managers in the field of contract logistic together with the respective specialists in this business unit.
In a few sentences please explain how your career path has evolved at Kuehne + Nagel until today?
In September 2007, I started as a Junior Development Manager in the Human Resources Department in our European headquarters located in Hamburg. In the first two years I was mainly involved in giving trainings to different target groups in the organisation. During this time I specialised in leadership and gained a lot of experience in the field of people development as an internal trainer and consultant. In the course of my further development at I took on more responsibility in projects that are closely related to the field of organisation development - such as the implementation of a performance management process that I mentioned above.
Do you have any advice for professionals who want to join Kuehne + Nagel?
I would probably refer to the following quote that hits the nail on the head in my opinion when we talk about advice for professionals who want to join us: “A good plan implemented today is better than a perfect plan implemented tomorrow.”
What do you like about working for Kuehne + Nagel?
I really appreciate the high degree of responsibility that I gained during my time here and the wide room for personal development that I have in my field of work. Furthermore I like the people who work for Kuehne + Nagel.
What are the best ways of forging a career and being successful at Kuehne + Nagel?
In my opinion you need to show a high level of personal initiative and self-reliance to be successful. You can only benefit from a wide scope of responsibility if you take the initiative and drive your tasks and projects forward. Developing good communication skills is another success factor here. You need to be able to share knowledge, information and ideas to transmit a sense of urgency and enthusiasm to others.
What attracts you to waking up in the morning and working for Kuehne + Nagel?
I am fascinated by the spirit and the corporate culture of KN. The corporate growth initiative brings a lot of drive and change into the organisation. It motivates me to understand how I can contribute to the success of Kuehne + Nagel in my area of responsibility. Change has a bad reputation in our society. But it is not all bad. In fact, change is necessary in life – to keep us moving, to keep us growing and to keep us interested.
What has been your biggest achievement?
The biggest achievement during my time here has been my ability to build stable relationships with all different kinds of people and personalities. Finding an effective way to communicate with different stakeholders in my area of responsibility is another acheivement I am proud of.
What keeps you busy outside Kuehne + Nagel?
I started with kitesurfing a couple of years ago. This hobby really became a passion for me and I am trying to spend as much time on the water as possible. Kitesurfing is my personal way to recharge my batteries.
