For example, Kuehne + Nagel has long been a member of the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA), an initiative to increase security standards related to the storage and distribution of high-value products, as well as to reduce risk of theft. A number of our locations are certified with the highest A rating; many others fully meet TAPA requirements even without special certification.
In 2003, the company became one of the first logistics services providers to be globally certified by U.S. Customs under the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) initiative. The certification, validated several times since then, documents the company's efforts to secure the international supply chain and meet U.S. security requirements.
The World Customs Organisation has set standards to secure and facilitate the flow of goods in international commerce, and the concept of the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) has been lauched to further increase the security level for international shipments. Kuehne + Nagel fully supports this initiative and is already AEO certified in 17 major European countries according to the highest AEO level 'Customs simplifications/security and safety'; more countries with AEO certifications will follow soon for the advantage of Kuehne + Nagel's international customers.
In addition, Kuehne + Nagel's QSHE management system gives special consideration to the professional handling of dangerous goods, meeting and exceeding the latest security requirements.
We set ambitious new targets annually to focus on continually improving our already high standards. For more information about our QSHE processes, please contact us
