Returns Management

We offer you the ability to track your returns whether in the hands of customers or the field service organization, in delivery trucks of third-party providers or inside our network locations and repair depots.

Additionally, we provide visibility to transactions and process returns via our Web tools.

Our most extensive return process allows Kuehne + Nagel network locations and repair vendors to deliver a pre-approved return merchandise authorization (RMA) with any repairable part. The RMA is determined by the part’s assigned return depot location, and an outbound waybill is generated at the time of order (produced by a third-party carrier’s server).

We'll keep you informed about your inventory via reports that include:

  • Monthly average of all returned (closed) parts with month-to-date viewing capability
  • Daily snapshot of all outstanding (open) parts with archive to view historical day(s) on demand
  • Monthly average, inclusive of both returned (closed) and outstanding (open) parts with month-to-date viewing capability
  • Exceptions

In addition, incorporating Returnable Transit Packaging (RTP) for the shipment of perishables to collecting returned goods for refurbishment, Kuehne + Nagel understands how to introduce additional value, added flexibility and cost-savings.

Each RTP is tracked from supplier to retailer, from retailer to Kuehne + Nagel and back to the supplier. All data is analyzed through a Web-based control system to identify slow-moving or short-supply units.

  • RTPs – Units are tracked from supplier to retailer to our DC and back to supplier, allowing repeated use and supply chain visibility
  • Refurbishment – Screening for faulty items, no-fault-found items are cleared, refurbished and repackaged, as necessary, for return to stock
