By incorporating Returnable Transit Packaging (RTP) for the shipment of perishables to collecting returned goods for refurbishment, Kuehne + Nagel introduces additional value, added flexibility and cost-savings.

One environmentally responsible solution involves the lending of crates to curb excess over-stocking of units and minimize supply bottlenecks.

Each RTP is tracked from supplier to retailer, from retailer to Kuehne + Nagel, and back to the supplier. All data is analyzed through a Web-based control system to identify slow-moving or units in short supply. This particular operation includes automation and recycled packaging.

• RTPs – Units are tracked from supplier to retailer to our DC and back to supplier allowing repeated use and supply chain visibility
• Refurbishment – Screening for faulty items, no-fault-found items are cleared, refurbished and repackaged, as necessary, for return to stock
