The development of Kuehne + Nagel in Austria
Kuehne + Nagel began activities in Austria 45 years ago with groupage activities. After just one year, a first warehouse and office building was constructed at Vienna’s southern train station. Through the acquisition of the company Serat in the early 1970s, branch offices were established in the regions of Upper Austria, Salzburg, Tirol and Styria. Continuous growth led to a move to Freudenau in 1978, and in 1988 a 30,000 sqm facility was constructed at Vienna’s harbour.
Today, Kuehne + Nagel Austria operates across 12 locations and is active in all areas of transport and logistics. The significance of Vienna as a strategic location was recently underlined by the groundbreaking ceremony for a new Eastern Europe Overland hub there in May this year.
