Carbon and Sustainability Pacts

A Carbon and Sustainability Pact is the confirmation of our and transport carriers’ mutual ambitions for achieving sustainable growth. It represents a tangible commitment to reduce impacts from our shipments with the carrier as well as an ambition to jointly drive sustainability improvements in critical parts of our supply chain.

Carbon and Sustainability Pacts

The Carbon and Sustainability Pacts entitle companies to:

  • Reduce our CO2 emissions per container moved with partner carrier
  • Drive and establish standardised sustainability metrics in container shipping
  • Promote sustainable shipping through transparency and choice for customers
  • Reduce empty container positioning/re-positioning by mutually creating a container turn-around and cargo-matching concept
  • Reduce emissions from trucking and inland transport by identifying business, which could be transferred to lower carbon emission transportation
  • Strive for use of newest reefer equipment with more efficient reefer technology by creating a joint REEFER ECO PROGRAM
  • Develop/identify/promote a green end-to-end product in designated trade-lane(s), loops and/or port pairs
  • Establish a joint program for preventing the transportation of hazardous illegal waste (e.g. e-waste) and undeclared dangerous goods (using IBM Cargo Patrol)
